Benguet / Nueva Vizcaya
A long ridge traverse between Nueva Vizcaya and Benguet through pine forest, highland rice-terrace villages, and sea-of-clouds viewpoints of the Cordillera. The trail gained hiking popularity partly through its connection to the 1987 PAL Flight 206 crash site on its slopes.
Best months: November–February or February–April (dry season).
Permits: Register at the Kayapa police station; guides are secured locally and are mandatory. Separate fees apply for Kayapa, Tinongdan, and DENR permits, plus camping and porter fees.
Current closure: Currently closed indefinitely per the same Itogon Executive Order No. 21, s. 2026 (Apr 20, 2026) that closed Mt. Ulap — trekking and camping suspended, no end date given.
