Mt. Ulap

A grassland and pine ridge in Itogon, only about 40 minutes from Baguio, with panoramic Cordillera views reaching Mt. Arayat on clear days. The trail passes Gungal Rock and the Pong-ol Burial Caves, an indigenous cultural site.

Best months: November–May (dry season); December–February best for sea-of-clouds views.

Permits: Register at Ampucao Barangay Hall or the elementary school gym. Guide mandatory (capped per guide); fees are charged separately for registration, DENR, hiking, and the guide, and vary for a day hike vs. overnight.

Current closure: Currently closed indefinitely per Itogon Executive Order No. 21, s. 2026 (Apr 20, 2026) — trekking and camping suspended over forest-fire risk, no end date given. Confirm status before planning a climb.
